I started my search for ortho training with a desire to improve my outcomes. After reading the syllabus from the Academy of GP orthodontics, it became obvious I would benefit from a formal program that included hands
on training, an academic environment, and a mentoring program while I treated patients in my office. Case Presentation during the learning process helped transform my approach from mechanical to a biomechanical
one. This has caused me to want to know as much as my mentors and so began the quest to pursue Fellowship and Diplomate status. I'm not there yet but I will get there because I chose the right foundation course.
Early on I decided it was important to obtain fellowship and diplomate status in the academy. I did not want to bring attention to personal accomplishment but wanted to do my due diligence and assure I was doing everything
possible to be competent in providing quality orthodontic treatment. I felt I owed it to my patients.
I wanted to hone my orthodontic technique after my hands-on course finished and I felt working toward my Fellowship status and continuing my education would get me there and also show my patients my commitment to their
orthodontic treatment. By attaining my Fellowship status with the AGpO I became a better practitioner. Putting together my cases for Tier Advancement forced me to take a closer look at each stage my patients were
moving through in their orthodontic treatment.
Presenting cases for my Associate Fellow Certificate helped me to understand even deeper the Diagnosis and Treatment Planning. It was a boost of confidence to start treating my own patients after the discussions of
this cases with my mentor. Continue Education is the most important tool we have as dentists to increase patient satisfaction. As Dentist we are always under constant learning. Continue Education give you the confidence
able to treat more complex cases or help more patients to achieve their dental needs. When you commit to a life long learning your are able to serve your patients better and they in return will be the biggest source
of referral for our practices. I look forward to continue my development as General Dentist practicing Orthodontics. I believe we have to be always evolving, always learning. I definitely work hard to achieve my
next tier of success. Thank you.
